How to Make a Kir Royale

One of our favorite things to do once the days are longer and the weather heats up is head down to Laguna for the sunset on the weekends. There are a few places we frequent, and I almost always start the night with a Kir Royale. It's bubbly and just the right amount of sweet, perfect for warm evenings. I don't make them at home, like ever... I don't know why! But I think that needs to change and I want to share how to quickly mix one up for yourself if you've never tried one!

Ingredients:

  • champagne or sparkling wine
  • chambord
  • a lemon

Add 1/2 to 1oz of Chambord to a champagne glass (start with less and add more to taste, it's sweet!), top that with champagne filling your glass up. Peel the skin from a clean lemon (or make a lemon twist, unfortunately I haven't invested in the tool that does this... which is nuts, I need it), press between your fringers and twist to release the flavor, and drop in your drink.

I've had these without the lemon and they are NOT the same. That hint of citrus is the best part, so don't skimp on that step!

Serve + sip. These are the perfect drinks for an effortless night of entertaining. You can leave ingredients out for guests to mix up themselves without having a full bar or an insane mess afterwards. We have made these at parties before and they are always a huge hit, even for guests who are not the champagne type;)

What's your fave champagne cocktail?
