A Simple Pasta Date Night You Need On Your Fall To-Do List

Earlier this summer my husband and I decided give something new a try. When we first moved in together, we used to pick a recipe almost every weekend and cook it together. Over the years things got busy (and I think we weren’t trying to impress each other anymore, haha) and we started to let those nights slide. Before we knew it, doordash (grubhub, uber eats, whatever you use) was a thing and ordering in was WAY easier. I missed those nights, so we have been trying a little harder to make time for them. So, we started with pasta! We had never made it, but it seemed simple enough. Since that night we’ve been a little obsessed with perfecting the recipe as well as coming up with interesting combos to add in.

With fall (sort of) showing it’s face, I wanted to create a special date night for the two of us around the coffee table complete with cozy candlelight, faux fur throws and rugs, and lots of pillows. I also used our new dinnerware from Lenox. I love that it elevates the everyday meals we have, and when done well, can create a beautiful table setting… even if it’s just in your living room.

THE DETAILS

I set the mood with plenty of candles (and renewed my love for candlesticks… they’re so moody and perfect for fall), an arrangement of roses and dried florals I had around the house, and I even pulled out the cloth napkins.

The table was topped with the Chelse Muse Fleur collection by Lenox, the Tuscany Classics Burgundy Glass set, and the Colebrook Champagne Flatware (which is even better in person, I literally said OMG out loud, to myself).

I wanted to keep it simple, and let the essentials shine. If you are recreating this on your own table, you’ll see how quickly the space fills up!

HOW TO MAKE IT

I’ll go more in depth on how we make pasta and our favorite recipes later, but you can easily whip up this tasty one with store bought pasta!

This is the best 3 minute pasta dish you’ll ever make

After your pasta is cooked, set it aside. Add some arugula and olive oil to a pan to cook quickly until the greens begin to wilt. Add your pasta in to warm up with a bit more olive oil. Once everything is heated through, add to your bowl and top with cheese + freshly ground pepper. Gruyere, Parmesan or Romano are all of my favorites on pasta.

You can add in veggies, meat, or a light sauce to customize to your taste.

This idea is a simple way to spend some quality time with the people you care about. Especially as we head into the holiday rush. I definitely want to bring back our weekend dinners and spend a little more time setting the table with some of our favorite things from now on.

The pieces I used are linked below. I think they are perfect to take you through anytime of year and I can’t wait to find new ways to style them!
