Embroidered Napkins || DIY: Napkin Place Card

We all know I'm a sucker for a good place card + anything personalized. So, for one of our most recent projects, I put those two things together to create the ultimate plate topper for any of your upcoming get-togethers this season!

I feel like gingham screams summer, so when I spotted these napkins, they were immediately added to my cart and a plan was put into motion for this DIY project. I wanted to create a place card that guests could take home and use as they please; a decorative towel in the kitchen, an accessory for a tote bag, or even a neckerchief.

Supplies:

  • Napkin from terrain

  • Embroidery thread

  • Normal or embroidery needles

Instructions:

  1. Start by tracing the name in pencil

  2. Thread your needle and tie a knot at the end of the embroidery thread

  3. Starting from the back side of the napkin, create small dashes, following your pencil line

  4. Continue until you’ve traced the entire name

  5. Finish by tying a knot with the embroidery thread on the back side of the napkin

  6. We styled ours by tying the napkin in a knot and tucking in some dried flowers

You can take this a step further and use it for so many more things. Tie it around a bottle of wine with a cute message embroidered for your newlywed friends or for a housewarming. Gift it as a tea towel in a basket with some cheese and a baguette. Or use as a dog bandana (we made some different versions here!).
