10 Ways to Customize Your Wedding Invitations

Beyond your invitation and rsvp design, there are so many ways to add personalization and interest to your wedding stationery. Your wedding invitations are the first things family and friends see. They set the tone for your wedding day. Is it formal or casual? Is it at the beach or in the mountains? Will it be a weekend long party or a simple dinner? We really believe there are no rules when it comes to creating your wedding stationery, so get creative and think outside of the box. To get you started here are some of our favorite ways to add personality, interest, unforgettable details, and create an experience for your guests before they even rsvp.

TAGS Not only does this add a personal touch inside of the envelope, it also clearly states who is invited to attend. Add your guest’s names to personalized tags and tie around each suite with some ribbon or twine.

RIBBON AND TWINE • Speaking of, use one of the endless options to tie up a larger suite. You don’t want your 5 piece (invitation, itinerary, map, rsvp, accommodations card, etc.) flying out of the envelope in a pile. We can source many different options to do this that will tie back and add a pop of color or texture to your designs.

ENVELOPE LINERS • If you’re a fan of color and pattern, but want a simple wedding invitation, this one is for you. These can range all the way from a simple solid pop of color to hand painted patterns. They’re such a fun surprise when you open the envelope.

HAND ADDRESSING • Honestly, we don’t get a lot of clients that DON’T want hand addressing. It is well worth the investment to set your piece of mail apart from the junk mail people receive daily. I’ve heard so many times that guests love it so much, they keep these displayed as a keepsake for themselves.

WAX SEALS • So you tied up your suite with a ribbon, now you can top it with a custom wax seal engraved with your initials. These are totally customizable, so we can even do a simple illustration if you’d rather. Plus the wax colors are gorgeous and one more way to add that pop you might need.

DRIED AND PRESSED FLOWERS • Adding a tiny bundle of flowers inside of your wedding invitations is basically like a miniature gift for the recipient if you ask me. If you’re having a floral focused wedding and want to take it one step further, this addition is it.

VINTAGE POSTAGE • You can source almost any kind of unique themed stamp you can dream up. We’ve included everything from dinosaurs to state focused stamps to sports. Whatever your passions or hobbies are as a couple, this is a super unique way to share those with guests!

WRAPS AND ENCLOSURES • As a stationery lover, the more the merrier I say when it comes to paper pieces inside of your suite. Enclosures are basically mini folders for all the pieces of your suite. It organizes everything neatly (great for destination weddings with lots of info) and can be customized in so many different ways.

CUSTOM MAPS • Whether it’s a literal city to help your guests get around, or an artistic take on island in the Mediterranean, maps are great for showing your guests around town and pin pointing where each event will take place. These are ideal for destination and weekend long events that require moving around and transportation.

ITINERARY • We’ve talked a little about multiple day events, and itineraries come in handy when you’re hosting one. These include everything from what time the welcome dinner is to transportation options for cocktail hour. These are usually a larger trifold configuration and can hold SO much information. They’re all extremely gorgeous as we always add illustrations to make it almost like a brochure for your big day.

Like we said, so many options right? Each wedding and couple is different, and each of these additions can bring that to life in your stationery. We love incorporating at least one of two of these to give your suite some personality and bring it to life.
