A Spring Desert Fete
Longer days. The scent of jasmine filling the air. Sipping wine with friends outdoors. Watching the sunset while the string lights come to life. These are some of my favorite things that come along with the arrival of spring entertaining. After months of barely any sunlight once you leave the office for the day, it's such a refreshing feeling to really get back into those outdoor festivities.
To welcome the season, we headed out to the desert for even more perfect weather and to spend a night in one of my favorite locations (only second to the ocean), Palm Springs. I brought together decor in a neutral palette and focused on thoughtful details like hints of a Moroccan vibe, textures from nature, and favor boxes finished with personalize satin ribbons from my Brother P-touch Embellish who I have partnered with to bring this tabletop inspiration to you!
The inspiration started from hosting an intimate birthday dinner with friends. I celebrated my own thirtieth in Palm Springs and had such a great time, so getting a chance to recreate a small version of that again was such a blast.
To contrast the natural texture I incorporated into the decor, I created a modern acrylic invitation with hand lettered elements.
We also foraged for desert blooms to add to our arrangements and decor. They added the perfect pops of color and blended in seamlessly since they came from our surroundings!
I knew we needed a tiny bit of color, plus a place to get comfy, so I stopped by my favorite shop in Palm Springs and grabbed a few of their vintage rugs, poufs and blankets to tuck around the table. I stuck closely to the neutral tones but found a few pieces with some touches of pink to make it vibrant and fun.
I always find that when I create a seating area on the floor with lots of cozy places to curl up, people end up lounging longer than if they were at a more formal table. So for casual get togethers, this is definitely the way to go!
I've talked many times about my love for gifting. Favors are so fun to find. It's always an adventure to find something that's budget friendly, thoughtful, and stays on theme + adds a little something to the table. Add an adorable customized box, and I can keep myself busy for days obsessing over this one tiny detail on the table. I used the P-touch Embellish to wrap up the favors while also turning them into place cards. To keep with the simplicity of the color palette (and hints of gold), I used the gorgeous white satin with gold print. I added a little extra length on the ends and was able to wrap them all the way around the boxes creating a band. To finish them off, I tucked in an olive branch and crystal.
The P-touch Embellish has become the perfect tool to create simple details for all of my entertaining needs (just see how we used it at our last get together here). The variety in ribbons ensure you can find something to fit into all of your celebrations.
I can't wait to spend even more time entertaining outdoors the next few months. In the office, we've even been throwing around the idea of how we can make this a monthly thing because it was so fun to dream up the space and then get to enjoy it.
How are you guys planning on entertaining this spring? What are your favorite details to incorporate into your table?
