simple entertaining at home // style

i struggle every year with what i want to do to celebrate my birthday. some years call for a big bash, but others i just don't know if i want to go out (and save the messes and work for other people), or host in our own home. in dedication to that yearly fight i have up in my head, i thought i would show you some easy ways to host at home! starting off with what to wear.

we all know we want to be comfortable hauling around appetizers, plates, and bowls of salad to the dinner table. i worked with the brand joules to pick out a few pieces i thought would be perfectly tailored, while still giving me the freedom of being completely comfortable. i layered this intarsia sweater over this striped dress, added a few necklaces for a pop of sparkle and color and was done! i almost never wear shoes when we're at home (unless it's a fancy cocktail party with more than 6 guests… that's a good rule right?), so i made sure to have fun on top as there would be nothing eye catching on my feet;)

i had the table set with natural pieces like drift wood, candles and gold flatware.

these two pieces will definitely be in my rotation for entertaining at home. they were so comfortable while still being structured (aka. not my typical yoga pants and slowly tee, comfy!). mixing the patterns was super fun, but the neutral colors gave me room to play around with whatever jewels i wanted.

how do you entertain at home? does it matter how many guests you have and what the occasion is?

thank you to joules for providing the outfit to bring this post to the blog!
