filling in for Lauren while she's away. It's always an honor to be a guest on A Fabulous Fete and today I'll be sharing an easy holiday cocktail recipe . . . During the holiday season I like having a signature drink for entertaining. Last year it was this
and this year this Grapefruit Champagne Cocktail with a sage simple syrup. So easy and deliciously sweet and tart at the same time. If I'm having a big group of guests, I'll make it ahead and have a big pitcher chilling in the refrigerator, but for intimate gatherings, half the fun is making the drinks with your guests. Cheers to the holiday season!
Grapefruit Champagne Cocktail
with a Sage Simple Syrup
Yields 2 large drinks or 4 small
4 red grapefruit, squeezed
Champagne or Prosecco
Sage Simply Syrup {recipe follows}
Sage leaves, for garnish
Grapefruit slices, for garnish
1. Squeeze the grapefruits and divide the juice for your drinks. Fill the glass about halfway.
2. Top with Champagne or Prosecco.
3. Add a splash or two of the simple syrup. Add more if you like your drinks sweet.
4. Garnish with sage and grapefruit slices.
Sage Simple Syrup
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 Sage leaves
1. Add water, sugar and sage to a small pot.
2. Simmer until it boils.
3. Refrigerate.
