calligraphy workshop details // workshops
in november i taught my first calligraphy workshop. one of the hardest thing for me is public speaking… like, even to a group of five people. i sort of hyperventilate if there are more than 3 sets of eyes focused on me. so it was HARD. it only took a few minutes though. the girls were super friendly and even gave me a little laugh (along with a sympathetic look) as i explained why i might start rambling, forget what i was about to say, etc. ha! it will get easier each time, i know that, but i'm so happy to have been given the opportunity by
to step out of my comfort zone and do something that's been on my list for a long time.
naadine and i captured a few pictures from the event and i wanted to share those with you today! we are also planning a monthly calligraphy class, the next one is JANUARY 31st and I will be teaching watercolor calligraphy if you are interested.
.
and now, onto the details!
we had some amazing sponsors for our first event.
and
. i literally consumed donuts and sparkling wine for breakfast, lunch and dinner that day. i couldn't help myself. we set up a donut and mimosa bar for the girls to snack on before, during and after class.
each student had their place set with worksheets, my favorite paper, pen + nibs, a few colors of ink and tags for making their final project at the end of class.
it was really hard to believe most of these ladies hadn't ever tried calligraphy before, they picked it up so quickly!
it was an awesome day, getting to see everyone go from not knowing a thing about calligraphy to lettering their names, quotes and words in beautiful penmanship. i think each class will get better and better as i learn the best ways to work with and teach beginners (it's hard to remember what i wanted to know when i first started!). i might even consider doing an online course one day… although making a video makes me want to throw up. we'll work up to that.
if you want to sign up for the watercolor class,
