how to mix a decent margarita // cocktails
happy cinco de mayo! how's everyone celebrating today? we'll be whipping up some taco's as we usually do on tuesdays, and of course, mixing up those margs. in honor of the best holiday ever… ok, the best holiday that is basically about tequila… i wanted to finally share the margarita recipe that is a staple in our household.
we hardly ever stray from this mix unless we're making a blended version with fruit. and over the years i've tweaked it to fit the need for eliminating junk ingredients (i'm talking to you margarita mix!).
what makes this version so great is the fresh juice. so squeeze it when you can and skip the bottled stuff from the store!
ingredients for 1 serving
- 2 oz. tequila
- juice from 1 1/2 limes
- 1 oz. oj
- 1/2 oz. triple sec
- 1/2 oz. agave nectar
- grand marnier
- pellegrino
mix all ingredients in a shaker except the grand mariner and sparkling water. shake with ice, then pour in a glass over new ice.
top with a splash of grand mariner and pellegrino to finish.
don't skip the last steps! i think that is the best part and what makes it even more refreshing.
i hope you all enjoy today however you may be celebrating. i'd also love to hear your faves in the comments!
