Rose + Lavender Margarita
I always love coming up with a fun twist on a classic cocktail. Lately, I’ve been making a lot of my own infused simple syrups, and using flavorful garnishes or unique ingredients to make a fairly common drink a little more fun and interesting, and this cocktail is no exception.
For this Valentine’s Day, I wanted to come up with something feminine and easy to sip on that would be the perfect drink if you happen to be hosting a soiree for your gal pals — and this cocktail did not disappoint. We started out with a classic skinny margarita recipe, and because I was certain I wanted to use edible flowers as a garnish, we came up with an infused simple syrup and extra dash of flavor to really step the recipe up a notch.
the recipe
Rose + Lavender Skinny Margarita. Makes 4.
what you need:
4 oz Cointreau
4 oz Lime Juice
2 oz Dried Lavender-Infused Simple Syrup
1/4 oz of Rose Water
Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
Edible Flowers to Garnish
(Available at Whole Foods)
how to make it:
Lavender-infused simple syrup
Combine 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar, and a sprinkle of dried lavender in a small pot.
Place on the stove top and bring to a boil.
Remove from heat, stir, and let cool. Chill until ready to use.
* The amount of lavender you use here is completely up to you.
More lavender = stronger lavender flavor.
skinny margarita
Combine 8 oz tequila, 4 oz cointreau, 4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, 2 oz of lavender-infused simple syrup, and 1/4 oz of rose water in a shaker. Add ice.
Shake and strain into a Pink Himalayan sea salt-rimmed glass of your choice.
Garnish with sprigs of lavender and edible flowers of your choice.
Enjoy!
Because this recipe is a “skinny” margarita with no mixer, it can be a bit tart. The lavender-infused simple syrup + rose water sweeten it up a bit and make it really light and refreshing. Play around with the measurements to your liking!
