Monthly Notes No. 2 • rest, what's inspiring me for march + 3 things
A QUICK UPDATE
I’ve decided it’s time to stop naming these posts with the name of the month in the title because sometimes it’s just hard to keep up. I actually did write some notes for February, then 2 weeks in I went back and edited them because it had been too long, and then just never posted. I am the queen of trying to perfect something and then getting so overwhelmed by whatever it is i have to do, that i don’t finish.
I was pretty hard on myself at the end of last year. So after the new year i decided i was going to be okay with not making everything perfect. Not responding to every text. Not beating myself up over missing a deadline (that i put on myself). Not calling myself lazy when i just don’t have the creativity or energy to work on something.
It was one of the hardest lessons I (and I’m sure so many others) learned last year. That whether or not we realize it, we’ve been through and are going through a lot. We can change and adapt… it’s not the end of the world.
With that said, I didn’t decide that i should never blog again just because i couldn’t get it together the last few months; which is what I would usually do. Instead I gave myself room to pick it back up when it felt right.
I think we all need a little break sometimes. Because even though I didn’t intend to not create as much content the past few months, I think it gave my mind a little rest so that I could find my motivation and inspiration again.
A LOOK AHEAD
I’m excited that March is here. Spring is my favorite time of the year. The weather is perfect. The flowers are blooming. And it’s my birthday month (i still love birthdays). I’ve been planning lots of projects and ideas that i want to share with you that will get everyone inspired to enjoy this time of year.
Here’s a peek at what i have on the agenda:
I have some advice for your business and personal life
DIYs that you can follow to spruce up your home or office
Inspiration in the form of decor, flowers, and inexpensive finds to treat yourself with
And ideas for entertaining (and by entertaining i mean mostly for yourself and whoever you live with;)
Right now we really need to focus on and appreciate the little things around us that bring us joy. My goal this month is to inspire you to do that with me!
3 THINGS
i feel like there are always a few things i’m excited about and want to share with anyone that cares (hopefully you do). so i’m going to start adding this to my monthly check-in and i’d love to hear what you’re doing that’s similar!

Currently Reading •
The Source - I heard the author of this book on a podcast a few months ago. I’ve always been interested in the science behind the law of attraction, manifestation and visualization (because yes it all sounds great but HOW does it actually work?). So this book dives into how the brain works and what actually brings manifestations to life. Some parts are a little technical but it’s an interesting read!
Followers - This is one of those books i knew would be easy to read, so when i’m not feeling as motivated and don’t have the concentration to learn and retain info while i’m reading i open this! I’m not sure i would recommend it to a friend… it’s fine to keep me busy at night (instead of watching tv) and is getting sort of interesting now that i’m about half way through, but parts of it are just so silly. I mean it’s based on social media so not sure what i expected!
(post coming soon about how i’ve started reading consistently… i’ve finished 3 books this year after never being able to finish one… ever)
Favorite easy + healthy dinner •
Salmon Bowls!
Top quinoa with baked salmon, baked sweet potatoes + garbanzo beans, avocado, sautéed kale and a lemon tahini dressing. I love that I don’t need to measure anything and you can make the bowls as big or as small as you want (I heat up leftovers the next day in our toaster oven). You can also season everything with your favorite flavors. I typically use garlic + pepper on the salmon and cumin + garlic on the potatoes/beans.
(post coming on this dressing too! I have 3 go-to super simple dressings I always make from scratch)
One thing I am learning •
I am committing to taking a sketching class on skillshare this month. I learned fashion illustration in school, but never kept up with any sort of drawing. I am excited to dive back into this and be able to incorporate it more into my work and as a hobby!
