Spring Bedroom Update on a Budget
Just the other day my husband was telling me how constantly updating our home is not sustainable… and i’m writing this post to say, I think just the opposite;) Of course, I cannot tear down walls, buy big pieces of furniture and replace our dinnerware once a month. What I can do though, is make little updates on a budget that reflect a shift in the season. There are tiny changes that can make a big impact and they don’t have to cost a lot of money.
So I decided to set out to bring some spring vibes to our bedroom. It does feel like we just updated it (even though that was back in September of last year! You can see the before and after here). But I couldn’t help but want a little color in here as we prepare for the seasons to change.

3 of my top Budget Friendly Updates
No. 1 - Throw pillows + blankets
This was the easiest way for me to add some color to our room. I’m always checking out World Market as they have an ever-changing selection of inexpensive pillows. I love their velvet options (under $10!) to pair with larger patterned options which typically run from $25-$35. So you can easily add a few and stay under $100.
I also pulled some lighter pink throw blankets from around the house (free!). We have a ton of blankets and i’ve found that the easiest way to change the look of the room is to simply change up the room i’m placing them in. Plus these keep the dogs off of the white duvet MOST of the time.
Now that we’ve added these accent pillows I have been on a mission to make the bed every morning (which i’ve never done!). Without the pillows, you lose a lot of the color, so I feel like i have to if I want to enjoy the updates.
No. 2 - Art
While the pillows made the biggest impact, the art was my favorite detail. I did a quick browse on Etsy for printable artwork and found each of these options for under $6. I was able to print right away at home and frame myself rather than waiting for shipping (because i am extremely impatient!). I did buy the frames which came to a little over $100, but since i use gold as a neutral these will last a long time in our home. I have a pretty large selection of black and white frames so it’ll be nice to have these to switch things up in different rooms.
No. 3 - Flowers + plants
I love fresh flowers and live plants, but for the amount of time we spend in the bedroom, it wasn’t realistic to spend money on flowers or remember to take care of a plant. So I went with dried flowers! I just wanted to add a little movement and break up the hard edges of the frames, lamp, and nightstand. I pulled these from our stash and used vases i already owned. If you don’t have access to dried flowers and don’t want to buy any, you could also clip a few branches from your yard if you’re looking for a little more color.
